Airbag module repair after a crash
Locked airbag module after a crash
An airbag module locks once a crash code is written to EEPROM. The code can be cleared after inspection.
What you need to know
- Locking is a safety feature: while the crash codes remain in memory, the module refuses to restart the SRS system.
- After inspecting the module (housing and board intact), we clear the crash codes in EEPROM.
- Physically damaged housings are not salvageable: replacement is required.
How it works
1. Dismantle and read module
Read the EEPROM after removal.
2. Clear crash data
Erase the crash codes in EEPROM.
3. Bench validation
Validation on the test bench.
4. Reassemble + OBD tests
Reassembly and OBD tests.

FAQ
Can you force unlock without inspection?
No. We always inspect the module before any work: housing condition, board condition, consistency with the VIN and the deployed airbags.
